Kona Bay has been producing hard clam (Mercenaria mercenaria) seed for
over five years and is in the process of expanding operations to produce
more hard clams as well as other species. The bivalve hatchery supplies
a commercial bivalve seed nursery which is on-site. Monthly production
of 20+ million seed per month is required to supply this nursery. To support
the larger operation we are building a new, state-of-the-art hatchery.
A Bivalve Hatchery Manager will be responsible for the bivalve portion
of this new facility. Bivalve Hatchery Manager Job Description: The hatchery manager will be responsible for all aspects of production of clam seed and oyster spat. He/She must manage daily hatchery operation and laboratory in the production of bivalve seed and microalgae. The primary duty will be to operate the bivalve hatchery to meet company production goals, seed survival and seed quality targets.
